Lake Arlington Baptist Church

The design challenge was to incorporate youth, education, worship, and recreation spaces into a single facility. The 40,000 sf Family Lifestyle Center’s organization takes advantage of the site and building constraints by creating layers of interaction.

The building includes multi-purpose youth classrooms, worship area, competition gymnasium, dressing rooms, central control desk, commons, food service area, craft and arcade rooms. A second level enclosed pedestrian walkway connects the new building to the existing sanctuary pre-function/concourse. The parking lot expansion will increase the total number of spaces to 761.

HHS worked closely with the church’s in-house audio/visual consultant to design the youth worship space to allow for a variety of room arrangements. By use of folding walls, the 6,000 square foot assembly room can be subdivided into three 2,000 square foot classrooms for smaller group activities with individual control of audio/visual and theatrical lighting systems.
